A dual-lens 8K gimbal camera co-engineered with Leica, combining a 1-inch main sensor, a telephoto camera, 3-axis stabilization and a detachable OLED touchscreen in a compact creator-focused body.

Luna Ultra moves Insta360 into a new premium gimbal-camera class. Its main camera pairs Leica Summicron optics with a 1-inch sensor for 8K video, while a second telephoto camera adds reach without abandoning the stabilized handheld form factor. A detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen can be used as a remote monitor, making solo shooting and unusual camera angles easier to manage.
The main camera uses a Leica Summicron lens with a 1-inch sensor and an F1.8 aperture. Insta360 lists 8K recording up to 30fps and 4K up to 120fps, while the second camera uses a 1/1.3-inch sensor and a 60mm-equivalent telephoto lens for tighter framing.
Three-axis mechanical stabilization and fast gimbal control are designed to keep footage steady during walking, travel and handheld creator workflows.
Luna Ultra is aimed at travel filmmakers, vloggers and solo creators who want a compact camera that can deliver more natural depth, stronger low-light performance and a dedicated telephoto perspective without carrying a mirrorless body and gimbal.
Its detachable screen is especially useful for self-filming, remote framing and shots where the camera itself is positioned away from the operator.
Insta360 states that Luna Ultra is not waterproof, dustproof or splashproof, so it needs more care outdoors than a typical action camera.
The camera includes 47GB of internal storage. Buyers planning long 8K recording sessions should account for file sizes and transfer workflow.
The 20mm-equivalent main camera prioritizes wide creator framing, while the 60mm-equivalent telephoto camera is designed for tighter shots and subject separation.
Insta360 lists compatible battery handles, filters, lights, microphones, straps and mounting accessories for expanding the Luna Ultra beyond the standard bundle.
The Insta360 Luna Ultra stands out by combining Leica-tuned optics, a large 1-inch main sensor, a dedicated telephoto camera and a detachable OLED display in one stabilized handheld system. It is a compelling option for creators who value image quality and flexible framing more than rugged action-camera durability.
